My dog was diagnosed with a rare disease in 2009 after showing subtle signs of discomfort that were not yet correctly identified. It took the collective effort of the veterinarian, the internist, and the neurologist to provide the correct diagnosis. Tropper's disease, now known as syringomyelia, is not rare, just not widely acknowledged. Veterinarians are still learning about the disease, but breeders refuse to accept the responsibility of acknowledging syringomyelia in their breeding programme. Syringomyelia is not part of any breed standard anywhere in the world and in no way impacts a dog's appearance.
I started this business website in 2011 to educate owners and breeders on various health issues and responsibilities for our pets' well-being. I hope that my education efforts will focus on raising awareness about this disease, which is invisible but should not be ignored. I'd like to believe that any pet, regardless of breed, can be impacted by this condition. It is my hope that owners, breeders, and veterinarians will take advantage of the extensive research and studies already conducted on this spinal cord disease.
The content of this website is dedicated to providing a more accurate and informative understanding of those diseases in dogs. I want to emphasise that syringomyelia is a painful and permanent affliction for dogs. Therefore, it is imperative to raise awareness and promote early detection. My goal is to inform our fellow pet owners, given the substantial and overwhelming amount of resources online related to this disease, that they are better prepared if they come across this type of condition in their pet.
My mission with Love My Trooper is to help other pet owners and provide as much information as possible so they can be aware of this disease, especially considering its life-threatening potential and the significant emotional trauma it can cause the owner. I just want to make sure the most suffers the least amount of pain and that an owner can find the resources they need to ensure an optimal pet life quality and a safe and comfortable departure from this world. Thank you for taking the time to read about my endeavour and the invaluable journey with Trooper. I'm grateful for your visit and hope to help you in any way I can.
